I want to begin by expressing my gratitude to the KFN Administration and community for the warm welcome I have received in my role as CEO of KEDC. It has been an energizing and rewarding experience getting to know our businesses, collaborating with the Board of Directors, and shaping a forward-looking plan for our organization.
As we continue to navigate the busy summer season at the Puntledge RV Campground and the I-Hos Gallery, and manage the many moving parts of the Queneesh Trailer Park closure, we are also making progress in several other areas. The new campground clubhouse and finance office are nearing completion and will be fully operational within the next month.
KEDC and the I-Hos Gallery are thrilled to participate in the National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration in Courtenay. We are looking forward to a vibrant day with the community as we celebrate this important event.

Our team is actively working to diversify and expand KEDC’s business portfolio, with a focus on tourism, resource management (including forestry), and new opportunities that support economic growth and diversification. I have been meeting with existing partners and building new relationships to support our long-term vision: a sustainable, diverse, and growing business that increases benefits for the community.
The Board and I met at the end of May to review and refine our strategic plan, preparing for a more formal communication to the community. This will build on what was shared at the K’ómoks Peoples Assembly in March. The Board is also participating in governance training to strengthen its effectiveness and ensure strong leadership moving forward.
Our team continues to grow as we modernize processes, enhance communication with the community and industry partners, and conduct deep reviews of all business operations. We are identifying gaps and strengthening our organizational capacity to ensure KEDC is well-positioned for the future.
I have also attended several Treaty workshops, which have provided valuable insight into both the history and the future of the K’ómoks First Nation. This is a pivotal time as we move toward Treaty completion and build a strong, resilient business foundation for generations to come.
In the near future, I expect to announce several initiatives that will outline how we are growing the business in dynamic, innovative, and beneficial ways.
I am truly excited to be part of the K’ómoks Economic Development Corporation and to contribute to its path forward.

Chief Executive Officer, KEDC
