Business Unit — Agriculture, Aquaculture & Food Security
Agriculture, aquaculture, and food security are deeply connected to K’ómoks First Nation’s relationship with the lands and waters of its territory. This business unit supports opportunities that strengthen local food systems, sustainable harvesting, marine-based food production, and long-term access to healthy, reliable food sources.
Through businesses such as Pentlatch Seafoods Ltd., K’ómoks continues to build on generations of knowledge, stewardship, and connection to the marine environment. Pentlatch Seafoods is a K’ómoks-owned shellfish aquaculture company with operations in Comox Harbour, Royston, and Baynes Sound, focused on oysters, clams, clean water quality, and environmental responsibility.
This business unit may grow over time to include additional food production, seafood, aquaculture, agriculture, and food security initiatives that support community well-being, economic development, and sustainable resource management for future generations.
